GSSJC Special Interest Groups

ROBOTICS SIG

  • Are you interested in Robotics, Coding or STEM?  The Robotics SIG explores all those topics in a non-competitive environment!  Scouts can also join a competitive team and participate in First Lego League (FLL), First Tech Challenge (FTC) or Jr. FLL Competitions!  Scouts will learn how to program their robots to accomplish goals and complete obstacle courses!  Get Coding and Join Now! 

  • Jr. FLL - kinder - 5th Grade

  • FLL - 4th grade to 6th Grade

  • FTC - 7th Grade to 12 Grade

Astronomy SIG

  • ​Are you interested in Science and all things Astronomy?  Well then the Astronomy SIG is for you!  This group gets together year round for monthly meetings.  Girls learn about Planets, Black Holes and the Universe!  This group also organizes and puts on Events, like Space Out, to give all of GSSJC the opportunity to learn about Outer Space!  

  • Girls must be at least a Junior to Join

  • Registration is open October to July

S.P.U.R.S. Program @ Camp Misty Meadows

SPURS (Super People Using Riding Skills) training is offered to Cadettes through Ambassadors who are interested in learning more about horses and helping with the equitation program at the McNair Equestrian Center in Camp Misty Meadows. Attending one weekend training at the McNair Equestrian Center is required for participation in the SPURS program. Core Program Aid training will be included. Since the training at the McNair Equestrian Center is an all weekend workshop, all trainees should bring clothing, bedding and food clearly labeled with the attendee’s name. Refrigerator and microwave will be available. Please note that registration is on an individual basis.  Adults are needed in the SPURS program too!

Mariner Program @ Camp Casa Mare

Is your Girl Scout interested in learning to sail? The Mariner program is an awesome program for older girls! The volunteers are fabulous and girls learn awesome leadership skills and gain team building experience and bond with other girls, while Living The Girl Scout Law, and enjoying the water!

  • Basic Sailing is a two weekend course (not back to back). Girls are required to be age 11 and older, hold a level four swim card & safe boater card.  

  • There will be two Basic Sailing classes for girls, this season: Class A: Basic Sailing Part I- August 25-27, Part II- Sept 15-17 and Class B: Sept 29-Oct 1 for Part I and Part II will be October 13-15. 

Intro to Sailing-- A weekend where girls just wanting to check out the program can come give it a try: Sept 8-10 & another session will be offered Sept Oct 6-8. 

Adult Basic Sailing: Sept 15-17 Part I and Part II will be Oct 13-15.

GSSJC Green Starlettes Drill Team

The Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council founded the Green Starlettes Drill Team in 1993 and there are current 12 divisions in and around Houston!  The Green Starlettes Drill Team helps build self-esteem and confidence in a fun dance environment!  There are no try-outs to join and any girl 4th - 12th grade can participate!  Please click the links below to download the Team Info Sheet and Registration Document to join!

Summer Camp Sessions at Agnes Arnold, Misty Meadows and Casa Mare

  • ​Do you love Camping, Horses, Sailing, Canoeing, Archery and making new friends?  Well Summer Camp is a great place to do all that and more!  Check out the Summer Camp Catalogue and pick the session that's best for you! 

  • Camp Agnes Arnold - Camp Agnes Arnold has amazing Canoeing, Archery, Pool, Arts/Crafts, Bikes/peddle cars, lake inflatables and a monster slide! 

  • Camp Misty Meadows - Camp Misty Meadows is all about HORSES!!!  It also has Archery, a Rifler Range, Pool and Arts/Crafts!

  • Camp Casa Mare - Camp Casa Mare is all about SAILING!!!  It also has Water Sports, Scuba, Swimming, fencing and Drama classes!

GSSJC Twilight Camp

Twilight Camp - Mary Jo Peckham Park, Katy, TX​

  • Come to Camp every evening for a week and get the full experience right here in Katy! 

  • Campers will enjoy Archery, Canoeing, Art/Crafts and fun Themed Activities!

  • Campers will receive a Patch and T-Shirt
